Can anyone recommend any older games like Diablo 3?

Diablo and its clones are mostly going to fall into PC territory, at least until recent years when the lines between PC and console releases have blurred.

The only old Diablo clone for consoles I'm aware of that was any good is Darkstone, which was available on Playstation and PC.  If I were to play it now, I'd play the PC version, though.

Nox is another good Diablo clone from back in the day, but PC only, I think.

A bit newer, you might try Dungeon Siege II, or newer still - Torchlight (which I believe is also on the Xbox360.)

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance 2, Champions of Norrath, and Champions: Return to Arms are all Diablo-style action RPGs available for the PS2 and, in a few cases, the Xbox and/or GameCube. :)

Hunter: The Reckoning, Hunter: The Reckoning - Wayward, and Hunter: The Reckoning - Redeemer are also action games with RPG elements similar to Diablo, but set in the modern world. They're based off the pen-and-paper RPG from White Wolf, and are a ton of fun in my opinion. All of them have local multi-player options with up to 4 players on the original Hunter: The Reckoning (GameCube and Xbox) and Redeemer (Xbox), but only 2 players on Wayward, which was a PS2-only release for some weird reason. :)

Darkstone for PS1 was mentioned by Kitsunebi already. There's a version of Diablo for PS1, and Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain is a bit Diablo-like in it's top-down perspective, gothic setting, and leveling system. :)

If you like comic book characters, you're in for a treat as there are a slew of options. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2, X-Men Legends 1 and 2, and Justice League Heroes are all Diablo-style action RPGs that allow local multi-player. There's not as much emphasis on equipment and loot in these games as there is in Diablo, but it's more about powering up your heroes, unlocking their abilities, and smashing larger and more dangerous enemies. :)

Throne of Darkness is a Diablo-style RPG that takes place in feudal Japan, so there's all kinds of awesome mythology tied up in there. It was a PC-only release from 2001, but it was published by Sierra, so it's quality. :)

I will go with Gauntlet 4 for Genesis. It has some rpg elements in it that were not in the older one and for sure plenty of dungeons to go through. I would not call it Diablo like per-say, but there are some similarities there and it is my favorite Gauntlet game that was released.
