New Cut Off Date for 2016

As we go into the new year, we will be pushing forward our cut off date for defunct publications. Starting today any publication that is defunct can be scanned up to December 2006. This means publications such as Nintendo Power, GamePro, PSM and PLAY can now be extended for preservation. Ongoing magazines such as Official Xbox Magazine, GamesMaster and PC Gamer will remain at 1999 cut off dates. Banned magazines such as Game Informer and Die Hard GameFan are still prohibited from being scanned (besides the covers).

Update: Both E-Day and I went over this and are going to allow current magazines to be pushed forward from December 1999 to December 2001. This will essentially make the Defunct/Ongoing dates 10/15 years (2006/2001)

So now it's 1999 and earlier instead of 15 years for current magazines? I guess that's reasonable. Was hoping we would get the 2000 issues of EGM this year. Especially when I mailed them to eday for scanning in August anticipating their being allowed this year.

Yeah, as much as I hate to say it......I don't see EGM lasting too much longer. They really alienated people when they shut down the first time. I had a few years left on my EGM subscription and they replaced it with Maxim. Then they came back and it seems like it is a guessing game as to when the next issue will show up.

The owner told us directly not to host them or make them available. The first three issues are available to purchase at gamefanmag.com. Their plan was to have more available. Even though the magazine is defunct again, the initial request from Dave Halverson still stands.

Game Informer made a similar request of us, which is why their issues are not allowed either.

E-day and I had a long talk about this, we are going to push forward the ongoing date from December 1999 to December 2001.

Meaning that not only are year 2000 issues of EGM now eligible for availability, but 2001 issues as well!?

Thank you so, SO much! My favorite year of the magazine (2000), which I've searched long and hard to replace, as well as all of my 2001 issues which were lost in a flood, are now something that I can actually look forward to re-acquiring. That's something that I've resigned myself to being impossible for going on a decade.

I can't thank you guys enough. Seriously, getting all of these memories back will be something of a dream come true. Thank you for taking a second look at the subject, and thank you for making the decision that you did. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
