  1. I uploaded it there, so it should be the same unless someone recently put up another one.
  2. The cost would have been too prohibitive. There were color 3d goggles available for the pc at the time which costed $500-800. And more colors would have meant a much more powerful cpu or graphics chip would have been needed. It was still very much a market aimed at kids and teens in those days, so it might have bombed even harder.
  3. You know there is a fan-made remake of it? I believe it's still incomplete, but it has been in active development for a while, and looks really nice.
  4. For me its also mainly nostalgia reasons and historical reference. But another thing is simply looking back at these things that I saw as a child, and reframing it from an adult's point of view. For instance, I was absolutely shocked when I read through the first couple of years of Gamepro and learned that it was nothing more than glorified advertisements. They never said a bad word about ANYTHING. There was nothing but praise to be found. And the letters from readers are also extremely interesting to read... those times just seem so much... simpler.
  5. I was crazy about TMNT and the Simpsons games when I was a kid. But at that time, I was basically dependant on begging my parents for a quarter, and I would be lucky to get one. So I didn't really get to play them much. Most poignant arcade memory would have to be when I was probably around 12 or 13 years old. Little scrawney kid. I was in an arcade playing Street Fighter II. BIG guy gomes up and puts in a quarter and fights me. He has no idea what he's doing, and I beat him easily. I can tell that he was getting agitated during the game, and he kept cussing a lot. After I beat him, he then proceeded to RIP the controls off of the machine, and walk away. I stood there about ready to piss my pants. The controls were still attached by a hinge on the front, so I just folded it back up and kept playing. Didn't wanna waste the rest of my quarter.
  6. I had one when I was a kid. I sold it to my cousin. No idea what happened to it after that. He died, so I can't ask him where it is. I'd kinda like to play it again.
  7. Also, I think you should strongly consider sony's playstation plus service in your decision, as its an awesome value. For $50 a year, you get a ton of free games, some of them triple-A titles. That alone made owning a Vita worth it for me (only sony system I've ever bought)
  8. According to http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/Price_cuts November is a popular month for console price cuts. But it also looks quite rare to see 2 cuts within the same year. I think it might be more likely for them to cut the price of their high-end model (which is still at $500), or introduce a new model.
  9. Yea, I would say if you can provide them in better quality go right ahead. I just didn't want you to feel like you might have wasted your time or something if you found out they were already scanned.
  10. Before you go scanning a bunch of magazines, it might be worth noting that there are a lot of other scans out there besides just what are posted on this site. In particular, since you mentioned both Electronic games and Video games, it's worth noting that I recently posted a torrent in another thread here that contains issues 1-34 of Electronic Games and Issues 1-20 of Video Games. I believe those are both complete. However, they are not necessarily the most high resolution (but they are certainly readable), so you may well consider still scanning them again if you like, if you think your copies would be improved.
  11. Alright, it's just about fully seeded now, will probably complete sometime today. If anyone has not hopped on yet, I would recommend grabbing it now to get the fastest download speeds.
  12. Although I was hoping to avoid it, even with newsgroups and premium downloading accounts, I ended up spending probably 40+ hours putting together a collection of magazines that I was satisfied with. So to hopefully make it a tiny bit easier for others hoping to get a collection started, I bring you a Christmas present. Due to 200+ gb of files being just slightly unreasonable, I have focused the content of this torrent a bit. For one, the magazines contained herein are primarily console and handheld gaming, NOT computing or computer gaming. I have also limited this to just North American magazines for now. While there are a ton of really awesome looking European magazines, including them would double the size of this torrent, and I feel like there are quite a few good sites out there dedicated to downloading european magazines. So, with these limitations in place, this torrent clocks in at 84GB. I'm on a fairly slow connection, so you may need to expect 1-2 weeks for it to be seeded, but it will be seeded, and I will probably continue for the next 6-12 months or so. If this proves popular, I might do a European torrent at some point. Also note, this is not a retromags torrent, but contains magazines from other sources as well. The included readme.txt file cites the various sites that magazines were obtained from. Merry Christmas. Simply copy the following magnet link into your torrent client: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:J6QO7YBBIM2CNIEIUPZJVIS43GUKPEF6&dn=North%20American%20Classic%20Gaming%20Magazines&tr=udp%3a%2f%2fopen.demonii.com%3a1337%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.publicbt.com%3a80%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2ftracker.istole.it%3a80%2fannounce&tr=udp%3a%2f%2fexodus.desync.com%3a6969%2fannounce
  13. Oh, looks like newsgroups have searching features these days. I think I can find what I need then, and if I'm able to get most everything I'll post up a torrent.
  14. I can gladly get one going. I just need to know whats the newsgroup I can get the magazines from. I've been searching this forum trying to find the answer for a while now, but I can't find what actual newsgroup (alt.binaries.???) that its posted on.
  15. KiwiArcader: Sounds like you don't know much about torrents, as everything negetive you say about them is completely incorrect. Trackers have not been necessary for torrents for years. ThePirateBay's instability is irrelevant as well, as before it went down recently, they weren't even hosting torrent files either--because torrent files are not needed anymore either. I'm also pretty sure content this awesome shouldn't have much trouble keeping seeders. I mean hell, I've been ready to seed this thing for months now. Almost any community with interesting content and more than a handfull of interested people shouldn't have trouble keeping something seeded. Phillyman: I'll gladly pay a bit to get access to a newgroup server if that's the easiest way to get them. My former experience with newsgroups about 15 years ago was that content generally only lasted a few days or weeks, so I had no idea that any of the magazines could still be on there. What is the newsgroup that they are on? And roughly how many magazines are currently available on it? The whole collection?
