PCAccelerator

Howdy!

I have another magazine not currently indexed here that I am in the process of completing. PCAccelerator was a sister magazine to PC Gaming and was often referred to as a cross between PC Gaming and Maxim. It featured a fair amount of irreverent humor including parody ads. The first issue was September 1998 and it only ran to June 2000.

I have that final issue, Number 22, fully scanned:

I have acquired 9 of the 22 issues and hope to at least get the coer scans up for you next week as well as having the 300dpi version of this issue ready. All issues are perfect-bound so they will follow my normal procedure of page-by-page debinding.

Hey VG, I've been working on this as well and look forward to seeing your scans, especially since you might have better copies to work with.

If you like you can see what I've uploaded to archive.org.

Here is a fully edited issue from Feb 1999

https://archive.org/details/PCXL06Feb1999

And here are a number of other scans that remain unedited.

The admins here were working on a streamlined way to make additions to the database for missing magazines like PCXL. I'm sure they will get around to it eventually.

Hey marktrade,

Thanks for that info I guess I should investigate what's going on at archive.org since I haven't browsed around there.

My copies of the first and last issue are very good, the rest are good to very good. These are the ones I have on hand (and I'm working on getting others, I was promised by the lead designer of World of Warcraft Mark Kern that their Tomb Raider review is not to be missed):

1 (9/98), 5 (1/99), 8 (4/99), 13 (9/99), 14 (10/99), 18 (2/00), 20 (4/00), 21 (5/00) & 22 (6/00)

This isn't even the last of the un-indexed mags I have to add, but I'm already spread pretty thin getting my own project ready lol

Issue 16, Holiday 1999, before the Y2K bug destroyed everything.

I suppose it's fitting then that there is a scanning glitch on page 53. I looked around my apartment for the magazine so I could rescan it but I might have thrown it away, so it will have to stay there for the time being. I'll be happy to fix it when the opportunity presents itself. Until then everything is readable and it only affects a minor portion of the page (which is probably why I missed it, or else I would have rescanned it right away).

There was also a minor page-order error in issue 09 that I fixed today, didn't affect anything except a double-page AvP ad spread that looked messed up anyway, haha. New file being uploaded.

I have that issue scanned as well and just finished editing, but page 83 is all messed up. I was wondering if you'd be willing to share your scan of page 83 with me. It's an ad page for Imperium Galactica II.

It's my own fault. I threw the issue away after I scanned it believing I had a good scan, but I should've known better, that I can't catch everything after only one look. Some ad pages look messed up anyways, y'know?

Don't bother. Just grab it from PCXL issue 21. It's page 43

Oh hey! You're right! Now that I compare them I notice that the printing was a bit blurry by comparison in my copy of that issue, but it will certainly suffice for release. Good thinking. I'll just have to look forward to VG's release for the possibility of something better. :)

Here is issue 22, then:
