[E-Day]

With the moderators talk about spring house cleaning and small renovations for the site, I thought it would be a good idea to get organized concerning the magazines that are missing.

I am starting to compile charts for each magazine on Retromags, so it is easier for everyone to keep track of what is on the site and in possession of members, and what is missing. If you have any magazines that you bought to contribute to this site that are from 1999 or earlier, or have some from years ago that you are willing to donate, please let me know here. That way I, and others looking at obtaining issues for the site, don't end up buying something that another member already has (unless they want to buy the magazine for themselves, that is ). Hang onto any 2000 or later magazines. While we don't accept them here at the moment, one day we will.

Even if you have magazines that are not on this site yet but would like to share, by all means let us know. If we know what we have, then it is easier for everyone to know what we need. I'll be making charts to easily illustrate what is missing, as I have done in the EGM thread

Don't worry. My in-laws are going to pay to finish my storage building up here. 900 square feet of storage with 400 extra for a shop that at least he will get to use, heated and cooled with 2x6 studs and 4 1/4 inches of insulation in the walls-it is built better than the house they are living in (got a feeling they will probably swap out living quarters later this summer). So, no worries about the post 1999 stuff, in fact I am going to meet a guy that is giving me another 200 to 300 gaming mags all newer stuff that isn't eligible for here so that will be left here with the rest of my post 1999 issues.

Oh as far as the posted list there, I stopped cataloging because I got a hand cramp the third day of making that list, but it doesn't matter, the stuff not on the list is not eligible here anymore so I never bothered to finish it.

At some point over the next 1-6 months (A large timescale I know but it can't be helped), I'll be able to crack open and scan a fair few C&VG mags from the golden era. I'm hoping I'll discover that I took out the yellow pages from only a couple, and if so praying those ones are still sitting in the magazines at least, but can't guarantee it.

See you in some time... could be a while before I get the chance to do this I'm afraid, but it will get done eventually

Hi there, always nice to see people willing to join in.

You got me curious though as to which era you are referring.
My favourite CVG era as without a doubt the Paul Davies one, but I might be slightly biased since the 32-bit era overall is very dear to me.

Don't worry about timetables or anything like that. Just know that many people will be happy whenever the magazines are released.

I've not seen it mentioned anywhere else, and it's totally the sort of thing enthusiasts would be into. I have a large number of "Rainbow" magazines. This was the magazine published specifically for the TRS-80 CoCo user back in the 1980s. I'm not 100% sure how many I have, but I'd estimate at least a dozen or more.

Rainbow published all sorts of nifty articles about things you could do with your CoCo computer, compiled full BASIC code listings for a variety of different programs including some pretty impressive games, reviewed hardware and applications, published puzzles, and held contests including ones for full programs that were written with only 1 or 2 lines of code. It's an insanely cool look at what the CoCo community was like back then, and it seems like the perfect sort of thing to donate to Retromags as they are certainly old enough.

Would these be of interest to the site? I'm not certain if I have the heart to personally destroy them in order to scan them, though I'm more than willing to at least do cover scans and attempt a non-destructive page-by-page scan of them if y'all think they'd be good on the site. Would samples help? Seriously, these things rock and I'd love to share them.

Not sure if it is nostalgia speaking or not but my first computer that I remember was a Color Computer (2 I believe). I wholeheartedly say yes, it would be awesome to have stuff like that available here. If you are willing to try and scan it, I am more than willing to offer any help in getting them scanned without destroying them, or damaging them. Cover scans would be great to start, maybe build up some enthusiasm for them.

I have quite a few magazines I might be able to contribute or possibly sell to anyone who wants to contribute. The include Ultra Game Players, Game Players, Gamefan, Nintendo Power, Sega Visions and some others. A lot of the Sega Visions don't have their covers, though and I'm sure I'm missing a few pages here and there.. Also some PSM and Dreamcast magazines here and there. I may make a list later on if I have the time.

I also have the first 50 or so Sonic the Hedgehog comics. I may scan the first few issues soon just to see how they come out without unbinding them.

Does anyone have the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles magazine that you were sent from being a member of the fan club? I really would like to read those again!

Try to scan at 300 DPI also.

Honestly, it is up to you. I am not one to detach the poster from the magazine, others may do it. It is really personal preference. At the least, scan the pages you can and just post that there is a poster (possibly of what if you can) so that someone else may be able to scan it from an issue that is damaged or something. Like the Nintendo Power mags have posters that are 3 pages pull out style but Gamepro had 2x2 posters which had to be detached to see the whole thing.

I have Nintendo Players Guides for Chrono Trigger and Earthbound in fair condition.

Everything listed comes from the USA. Some of the issues I posted as Good with missing pages aren't actually all missing pages, just sometimes have writing or little snippits taken out, but it's not often. Unfortunately though, my Nintendo Power issues have the cards and posters taken from them, sorry.

I'm thinking about selling the magazines(excluding the SFA2, CT and EB guides) if anyone would actually want to put any needed issues up here. I really don't want to scan all this stuff, too lazy/too little time. There are some gems here, though. I know a few of the things I posted are too new to be included(the newer NPs for one), but I made a personal file of everything and just copied it all over. If anyone's genuinely interested, PM me. I'd only really like to sell if I'll be seeing them put online here.

ok, I have a lot of great vid game mags from the early to late 90's. I'd be willing to send them to any of you regular scanners (someone trustworthy obviously.. ). I could send like 15-20 issues a time via USPS Priority Flat Rate Box. I'd pay for shipping to you, you pay for shipping them back. I'm gonna make a list of the issues I have, and post that list here soon. I'd scan them myself, but I'm just not up to it. I used to scan a lot of games, boxes & manuals for RF Generation. I'm all scanned out.. Is it a good idea? Any of you up for it? Thanks.

5 = Perfect / 4 = Near Mint / 3 = Avg. Little Wear / 2 = Well Read & Rough around the edges, but Complete / 1 = Missing cover, pages, or very poor condition overall (creases, stains, dog ears etc.)

Most issues will be a 3 and are in great condition overall with very little wear noticeable. Infact a lot of the 3’s I’m giving should probably be 4’s… And a lot of the 2’s interior pages are flawless… Most 1’s are missing the cover & rough, but readable.
