I responded to you Nemesis :). So my week just gets better.....after the car crash, my wifes father had a mini stroke, and then yesterday while driving the accident car, a huge construction truck on the Interstate....dropped a huge metal arm on the road in front of me....which I luckily swerved away from!

@  ♣nemesis♣ : (25 May 2016 - 01:21 PM)

just donated $5 but can't download anymore. any ideas?

@  Sean697 : (25 May 2016 - 12:14 AM)

https://community.retromags.com/topic/9570-egm-20-misprint/#.V0U0MZBpah8 Good enough for me. No pages missing after all.

@  Sean697 : (24 May 2016 - 10:56 PM)

So I think it might have actually been real that these pages aren't included. The table of contents lists an NES section on page 51, actually starts on 67, Genesis on 50 something actually starts on 75 0t 76. The page numbering doesn't match the table of contents. So it may actually be correct and there are no pages 51-66. I'll move onto editing but need verification from anothe EGM 20 before I can publish.

@  Sean697 : (24 May 2016 - 08:32 PM)

@  Sean697 : (24 May 2016 - 08:32 PM)

It would have been stapled in with the mag I think, why I need another issue to veiny what's really going on.

@  marktrade : (24 May 2016 - 08:05 PM)

EGM has been known to include inserts in the page numbering, hasn't it? Maybe there was a little booklet in there or something.

@  Sean697 : (24 May 2016 - 07:54 PM)

Almost done scanning EGM 20. Go to the middle and am missing pages 51 through 66. Can someone who has this check there issue for these pages? I debinded it my self it's very puzzling.

@  Areala : (23 May 2016 - 07:30 PM)

Glad to hear your wife is safe and well, Philly. Sending hugs. :)

@  marktrade : (23 May 2016 - 05:33 PM)

@Phillyman It's weird how that works. Another time I was rear-ended and my neck was sore for a couple days but there was no damage to the car. This last time the car was totaled and I felt fine.

@  Phillyman : (23 May 2016 - 12:57 PM)

Her neck is sore, got whiplash. The guys insurance is telling us they wont replace the car seat, which they will do....as the instructions say "do not use after a crash", not dont use only if there was a kid present

@  marktrade : (23 May 2016 - 12:02 PM)

@Phillyman How is she? Just a few weeks ago I was rear-ended as well. Totaled the car but I walked away alright. The lady behind me had three dogs running around the front seat. I don't know how she was able to drive anywhere like that.

@  ♦aloram♦ : (23 May 2016 - 10:27 AM)

Phillyman, best wishes for your family.

@  Phillyman : (23 May 2016 - 08:57 AM)

So my wife was in a car accident last week. Got rear ended by some idiot following too closely, or distracted.....luckily Olivia (my 6 month old daughter) was not in the car at the time.

@  marktrade : (22 May 2016 - 05:49 PM)

@kitsunebi77 For me it was my first issue of Inside Mac Games. A searchable magazine, full screen slideshows, video interviews, demos, shareware, add-ons (aka "DLC") all on one disc.

@  kitsunebi77 : (22 May 2016 - 05:41 PM)

I remember when I first got a PC with a CDROM drive, watching a grainy video in a window half the size of a playing card, and thinking, "this is it...where can they go from here?"

@  marktrade : (22 May 2016 - 05:30 PM)

@Areala I loved those precious two years where it seemed like Multimedia was going to change the world before the Internet ruined everything.

@  Areala : (22 May 2016 - 05:16 PM)

Also preserved: the very first cover scan of Computer Graphics World!! :)

@  Areala : (22 May 2016 - 05:09 PM)

You like that, do you, Marktrade? I found a third. :)

@  marktrade : (21 May 2016 - 01:55 PM)

Aww yiss Multimedia World

@  Areala : (21 May 2016 - 11:15 AM)

Right, you go to bed. You go to bed and you think about what you did. ;)

@  kitsunebi77 : (21 May 2016 - 10:38 AM)

Going to bed now, but tomorrow IT'S ON!!

@  Areala : (21 May 2016 - 10:35 AM)

Maximum PC section created in the Gallery. :)

@  Areala : (21 May 2016 - 10:33 AM)

My understanding is that Retromags is for anything related to computers or video games, it's just that video game magazines are where it started, so yeah, let's do it! 'Tis easier to ask forgiveness than permission and all that. ;)

@  kitsunebi77 : (21 May 2016 - 10:19 AM)

Are games even mentioned in all of those? We should load up the cover gallery with as many general computing mags as possible now while Philly's on vacation. I've got bunches of issues of Maximum PC. Cover after cover of pictures of PC towers. It will be glorious!

@  Areala : (21 May 2016 - 10:12 AM)

Doing a cover scan dump of mags I saved from the recycle bin at work over the last couple years. :)

@  kitsunebi77 : (19 May 2016 - 02:16 AM)

@marktrade pretty sure its always been that way. So far as I can tell, it's just Dengeki Playstation, Nintendo Power, and PC Gamer that are affected, but I haven't actually checked EVERY mag in the download section.

@  marktrade : (19 May 2016 - 12:39 AM)

@kitsunebi77 Oh you're right. I wonder if it was always like that or is that a new thing?

@  Sean697 : (19 May 2016 - 12:03 AM)

EGM 77 is up. Yay!

@  Sean697 : (18 May 2016 - 07:25 PM)

On to color corrections and resizing on EGM 77. This is all macro stuff so this will be released today.

@  kitsunebi77 : (18 May 2016 - 04:48 PM)

@marktrade It's a nice idea, but considering that Nintendo Power is cropped the same way, I'm pretty sure the problem is big enough to have been noticed once or twice before ;)

@  Areala : (18 May 2016 - 10:19 AM)

There's no problem so big it cannot be run away from." -- Charles Schultz ;)

@  marktrade : (18 May 2016 - 10:06 AM)

"Whenever I run into a problem I can’t solve, I always make it bigger. I can never solve it by trying to make it smaller, but if I make it big enough I can begin to see the outlines of a solution.” – Dwight D. Eisenhower

@  marktrade : (18 May 2016 - 10:05 AM)

I thought I just coined a phrase there, but I think Eisenhower said it first.

@  marktrade : (18 May 2016 - 09:53 AM)

@kitsunebi77 The only solution is to make the problem big enough by uploading more magazines so that more people see it and it can't be ignored. :)

@  kitsunebi77 : (18 May 2016 - 08:35 AM)

I know this is like a broken record (remember those?) but the Dengeki Playstation download section still crops cover pics improperly. I assume the problem is insurmountable - it just makes me feel better to mention it every time, anyway.

@  Sean697 : (17 May 2016 - 09:51 PM)

The guy I know is quite good. He has a client list of photographers who shoot picture of stars for magazines or are their personal photographers. He then does the retouching for them. If you didn't know already pretty much every famous person in print or online is professionally retouched. And he does this on the side. He might get make 5000 a job from the photographers, sometimes more depending on the job. He's shown me a lot of his before and afters on stars like Kurt Russell etc. needless to say it's been in strict confidentiality because the I retouched photos are not supposed to get out to the public.

@  KiwiArcader : (16 May 2016 - 12:35 AM)

Nah. That's a Professional "Toucher". Quite different. An Amateur "Toucher" is a fancy way of saying "Criminal" I think ....

@  Areala : (15 May 2016 - 11:13 AM)

"Professional retoucher" sounds like a fancy way of saying porn star. Just throwin' that out there... ;)

@  Sean697 : (15 May 2016 - 04:17 AM)

I have a friend who is a professional retoucher. He used to teach photoshop. He's shopped movie stars for magazines. I should really ask him for some tips sometime.

@  kitsunebi77 : (15 May 2016 - 04:12 AM)

Photoshop is a pretty complicated piece of software to dive into without receiving some sort of instruction first. I feel like I only know how to use about 10% of it

@  Sean697 : (15 May 2016 - 02:34 AM)

Yes it doe. But that feature wasn't in the help file so that tip from Marktrade was new to me. This would have saved me SO much time when you add up the time saved per page times thousands of pages.

@  kitsunebi77 : (15 May 2016 - 12:34 AM)

The straighten command in CS6 is pretty much just like that. You click the straighten button and draw a line by placing a point on both ends of a straight line (horizontal or vertical) to straighten.  I guess it just cuts out an extraneous menu selection?

@  Sean697 : (15 May 2016 - 12:28 AM)

I just used the ruler and it's way faster thanks for the tip. I was using the marquee method. Now I just put a point on both ends of the line, and go to the arbitrary rotate and it is exact every time. I checked with marquee box and it's perfectly straight. Great tip.

@  E-Day : (14 May 2016 - 11:31 PM)

I just tried the straighten button. It's faster for me to use the marquee tool to find out off a straight line is and then rotate the canvas myself. I have been doing it this way for so long I can usually guess the degree the page is crooked on the first try.

@  marktrade : (14 May 2016 - 09:23 PM)

The "straighten" button wasn't always available at the top, though. You used to have to go to the menus, select "rotate canvas" and then "arbitrary" which would automatically have calculated the degree of rotation based on your line with the ruler tool (or measure tool as it's called).

@  marktrade : (14 May 2016 - 09:22 PM)

Oh yeah, I don't have much success doing crop and straighten at the same time. I've just been using the ruler tool to draw a line on something that should be straight and then hitting the "straighten" button at the top of the screen. Then crop manually.

@  Sean697 : (14 May 2016 - 09:07 PM)

There is but it is kind of inconsistent. Ive tried it but it doesnt do a perfect job every time. Under File automate choose crop and straighten.

@  kitsunebi77 : (14 May 2016 - 04:42 PM)

Huh. I didn't realize that was new to CS6. Yeah, that's how I straighten everything. Unfortunately, a lot of times the layout of a page isn't consistent, so straightening the top of the image sometimes means stuff at the bottom is still askew. I'm still waiting for an intelligent one-click auto-straighten button.

@  Sean697 : (14 May 2016 - 01:27 PM)

http://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-editing/crop-image-cs6/ Is part of the cropping tool. I couldn't find a way to do that in CS3. I have to draw a box to get a straight line and manually rotate until it lines up to what I'm straitening to. Am I doing it wrong? Aside from using that automated script you use.
