@  RetroDefense : (06 August 2016 - 12:27 PM)

Rest in peace, Joyce Worley. :(

@  ♦Jake♦ : (06 August 2016 - 02:25 AM)

Since the site updates over the years im glad that when I press enter to start a new sentence it doesnt post a half drawn up statement.

@  kitsunebi77 : (06 August 2016 - 02:01 AM)

You weren't shouting loud enough the first time.

@  KiwiArcader : (06 August 2016 - 12:48 AM)

Wow!! That worked. Try and say something useful like I have all the 1983 onwards issues of CVG and nothing happens when you press ENTER or Shout button.

@  KiwiArcader : (06 August 2016 - 12:46 AM)

Shoutbox is a piece of shite!!!

@  kitsunebi77 : (05 August 2016 - 08:17 PM)

That was true in the US, but C&VG was a UK mag. Games were thriving in the UK at the time on 8-bit computers from Commodore, Sinclair and Amstrad, so they had little reason to pay much attention to the NES, especially with the paltry line-up of games released for it in the UK for the first couple of years while it was still being marketed by Mattel.

@  ♦PowerGamer♦ : (05 August 2016 - 08:05 PM)

It came out after the video game crash and no one wanted anything to do with videogames. It was why they called it an Entertainment System instead of console and called cartridges Game Paks. It was to help get past the bias against games.

@  kitsunebi77 : (05 August 2016 - 07:15 PM)

I doubt there was much. The NES was a non-starter in the UK with very little marketing support until years later, so it's unlikely that C&VG gave it much coverage at all.

@  ♦Jake♦ : (05 August 2016 - 06:35 PM)

As well as a ROB Robot advertisement to complete my set.

@  ♦Jake♦ : (05 August 2016 - 06:35 PM)

I wish all Computer & V Games issues from 1985 were available on ebay. I'd love to see some pre NES launch hype.

@  ♦Jake♦ : (05 August 2016 - 04:02 PM)

One day the ring will return. A group of a few members have to contribute to be able to take.

@  ♦Jake♦ : (05 August 2016 - 04:01 PM)

Demonoid went down years back and returned in 2011. Memberships are not always open.

@  ♦Jake♦ : (05 August 2016 - 03:59 PM)

I can't remember the others. Torrentz would search all public and private trackers. I could always find one.

@  Phillyman : (05 August 2016 - 01:41 PM)

getting harder to torrent these days, what have we lost so far? Mininova, Supernova, PirateBay, KickAssTor....am I missing any?

@  ♦Jake♦ : (04 August 2016 - 08:43 PM)

Damn does anyone torrent regularly?

@  ♦Jake♦ : (04 August 2016 - 08:42 PM)

Torrentz.eu says Torrentz will always love you. Farewell.

@  RetroDefense : (03 August 2016 - 09:07 PM)

New and updated mag dbase sections: Walmart GameCenter, CD-ROM Today (USA). Work in progress: Nintendo Power Supplements.

@  kitsunebi77 : (03 August 2016 - 07:46 PM)

I'm pretty sure the only books that are part of a series of different franchises are all children's books. So far just WOP, the Nintendo Gamebooks, Nintendo Heroes (not yet uploaded), and the Sega Power Present series. I guess I could include all of Tom Clany's assorted game series in one category (Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, etc)

@  RetroDefense : (03 August 2016 - 07:39 PM)

@ithsunebi77 To start, howabout a sub-cat whenever a book series or franchise reaches three or more? With book series (Worlds of Power, etc) taking priority over franchise. Maybe a sub-cat for two or more eventually if we're not burned out by then. :)

@  kitsunebi77 : (03 August 2016 - 07:24 PM)

I've thought about that. What do you think is best? Creating a category for each game franchise? Even if there's only a single book? I've still got at least 100 left to go LOL.

@  RetroDefense : (03 August 2016 - 07:09 PM)

@kitsunebi77 Novels cover gallery is up to 17 pages - maybe time to sub-categorize? :) By book series or franchise? I can assist.

@  Phillyman : (03 August 2016 - 06:28 PM)

Ok should be fixed now

@  Phillyman : (03 August 2016 - 06:24 PM)

One of the banes of this software, is that permissions are not inherited, I will fix it

@  RetroDefense : (03 August 2016 - 06:22 PM)

@kitsunebi77 I've also noticed a lack of inherented privs over dbase-mod created categories. Which is why two Game Career Guide gallery categories exists - doh. :) I've been meaning to mention the issue to Phillyman.

@  kitsunebi77 : (03 August 2016 - 06:21 PM)

It's a compulsion of mine - of the 2400+ covers I've uploaded, I doubt there's been one of them I haven't run through Photoshop first. I want stuff to look its best.

@  RetroDefense : (03 August 2016 - 06:17 PM)

@kitsunebi77 Looks much better! I grabbed the supp cover from the existing NP #44 cbr - the entire issue could use some cleanup, to be honest.

@  kitsunebi77 : (03 August 2016 - 06:11 PM)

Hope you don't mind I tweaked that Mario Paint cover. It was so washed out it was driving me crazy. :D For some reason I have no moderation powers on the categories created by RetroDefense, so I just had to upload a second pic.

@  RetroDefense : (03 August 2016 - 05:56 PM)

@Phillyman, ditto. :)

@  Phillyman : (03 August 2016 - 05:44 PM)

@RetroDefense, I think I might have those supplements still on my hard drive

@  Phillyman : (03 August 2016 - 05:43 PM)

Thanks for the donation NotDKJ! :)

@  RetroDefense : (03 August 2016 - 05:40 PM)

Welcome to the site, @NotDJK! :)

@  ♥NotDJK♥ : (03 August 2016 - 05:28 PM)

Since those Archive.org files were sourced from Retromags, I'll be donating here as an Annual Patron. Only fair!

@  ♥NotDJK♥ : (03 August 2016 - 05:27 PM)

Hey all, new to the site from these Nintendo Power news posts yesterday. I happened to download them from Archive.org and, while trying to find additional issues came across Retromags :)

@  Phillyman : (03 August 2016 - 05:07 PM)

Love all the "Nintendo" sites that are reporting that it is EVERY SINGLE issue.

@  kitsunebi77 : (03 August 2016 - 04:37 PM)

Weird how they've been at Archive.org for 6 months but everybody decided to report it all at once yesterday. Internet/social media journalism: sit around and wait for somebody to notice and report something so you can copy their story.

@  Phillyman : (03 August 2016 - 12:24 PM)

Example here :) - http://www.snescentr...cle.php?id=1072

@  Phillyman : (03 August 2016 - 12:23 PM)

@kitsunebi77 - Our official stance on re-hosting is the following. We don't care if someone takes our files and reuploads them into a torrent, newsgroups or hosts them from their own server. Just as long as the Thank You Page is left in the .CBR and the quality is not downgraded. With regards to ripping out pages, we ask that a hyperlink be included with each page or set of pages saying something like (Courtesy of https://www.Retromags.com)

@  Phillyman : (03 August 2016 - 10:02 AM)

Yeah I got an email about a slight increase in traffic last night. Most sites are reporting this as Archive.org did all the work, and don't even mention Retromags. So that is a bit disappointing, but at least they left the Thank You page in the end of most o the issues.

@  kitsunebi77 : (03 August 2016 - 12:37 AM)

Just don't be giving the credit to Nintendo, hey? Well, props to them for making the mag in the first place, but there's no way they'll ever have a hand in making it available to the masses for free. :)

@  marktrade : (03 August 2016 - 12:34 AM)

Perfectly okay to be noticed, as far as I'm concerned. Retromags deserves a big thumbs up.

@  kitsunebi77 : (03 August 2016 - 12:00 AM)

Not sure what RM's policy on such re-hosting is. I figure as long as the RetroMags splash page is there, we're cool, just so long as the extra exposure doesn't lead Nintendo to pursue shutting us down. They've been there since February, so hopefully that means we've escaped their notice.

@  kitsunebi77 : (02 August 2016 - 11:57 PM)

Nintendo had nothing to do with it, but yeah those are our files that somebody uploaded several months back

@  ♦TOLUST♦ : (02 August 2016 - 11:54 PM)

FYI.. Looks like Nintendo used our sites scans and included the back advertising for Retromags.com, get ready for traffic of new user sign ups !

@  ♦TOLUST♦ : (02 August 2016 - 11:47 PM)

Hey guys did you hear the news ?!?!
Nintendo just released the first 13 years of the NINTENDO POWER magazine at Archive.org.

@  RetroDefense : (02 August 2016 - 01:24 AM)

New and updated mag dbase sections: Game Developer, Dangerous Waters, Girls of Gaming, GameFan (2010).

@  marktrade : (01 August 2016 - 11:52 PM)

I thought a trunk was the large stem of a tree.

@  kitsunebi77 : (01 August 2016 - 06:49 PM)

I dunno. I received less than half that many mags once, and they had to be split into 3 large boxes. If they'd been put into a single box, I doubt a single person could have carried it (and I could have curled up inside of it). Granted, they were all around 250 pages each, so the mags Philly received might be smaller, but still...
