Indeed :D

@  kitsunebi77 : (27 August 2016 - 08:52 AM)

No worries. It's good that it's out there in a readable format at any rate. I'm sure eventually we'll have someone do a higher quality scan of it that we can host here as well.

@  delta7890 : (27 August 2016 - 08:49 AM)

Ah, it is not my own scan I'm afraid. :(

@  kitsunebi77 : (27 August 2016 - 08:42 AM)

Hi delta7890. Is the copy of Nintendo Power 145 something you scanned yourself? That issue is currently available elsewhere on the net, but we can only host files here that our members have scanned themselves.

@  delta7890 : (27 August 2016 - 06:43 AM)

Hello there. I'm a newly registered member and have a copy of Nintendo Power Issue 145, which is missing from the database. How should I go about uploading it so others can enjoy it as well? :D

@  kitsunebi77 : (27 August 2016 - 01:09 AM)

Philly, I like the drop down menus at your Gamingmagz site. Probably wouldn't work for a category with lots of entries, but it seemed quite convenient for the advertisements section on that site.

@  Sean697 : (27 August 2016 - 12:37 AM)

Making good progress in the forever in Editing EGM I've been working on. Only 30 something pages to go! (Out of like 178)

@  RetroDefense : (26 August 2016 - 01:13 PM)

SEO is crazy frustrating sometimes - you don't really have any control over the bot so it's largely guesswork. Google's Webmaster Tools is pretty handy though. I'd look for any forgotten redirects, wayward robots.txt files, and consider putting together a good sitemap.

@  Phillyman : (26 August 2016 - 11:14 AM)

Run this search, and GamingMagz which was another site I was working on years ago....and havent touched in years....ranks higher in Google than Retromags - https://www.google.c... Power Issue 79

@  Phillyman : (26 August 2016 - 11:12 AM)

I have often wondered if when I split them a few years back, if I killed our SEO, because we get jack shit from Google any longer

@  Phillyman : (26 August 2016 - 11:12 AM)

I wish, the software just doesn't seem to support this functionality any longer. So everything will fall under www.retromags.com, which doesn't change the home page or databases, or help pages.....but the gallery, downloads and blogs will need redirects to send them to the correct place

@  RetroDefense : (26 August 2016 - 11:09 AM)

That sounds like something handled at the DNS level. And depending on the server, you might be able to work around it with a htaccess rewrite.

@  Phillyman : (26 August 2016 - 10:15 AM)

I am pissed off :rtfm:.....These goobers that made this forum software REMOVED a feature in the new version that I use. Basically no more community.retromags.com for the forums and www.retromags.com for the databases. Nope now everything has to fall under www.retromags.com, so the forums will now be www.retromags.com/forums

@  Phillyman : (24 August 2016 - 10:09 PM)

Fixed, if i had to guess, someone set an image as the featured cover, then that image got deleted. So I just picked a random image, set it as the feature, then removed it again :)

@  kitsunebi77 : (24 August 2016 - 09:13 PM)

Philly, any idea why the "United Kingdom Magazines" gallery folder isn't displaying a cover pic?

@  Phillyman : (24 August 2016 - 05:19 PM)

However we will need to use ISO names in the URL's for certain databases. No categories can repeat across any databases. So if united-states is being used in the Magazine DB, then usa needs to be used in the Publication DB

@  Phillyman : (24 August 2016 - 05:18 PM)

Not sure why I thought it would work, I changed it this morning.

@  RetroDefense : (24 August 2016 - 05:09 PM)

Thank you, mystery Cover Gallery Title Editor person. Those country ISO codes were garish. :)

@  RetroDefense : (24 August 2016 - 04:16 PM)

I've always appreciated CMS' that allow micro-management of permissions. Always seem to be necessary sometime.

@  Phillyman : (24 August 2016 - 03:19 PM)

I tried copying over the display template from this site to that one, and it doesn't work. Its going to require tweaking!

@  Phillyman : (24 August 2016 - 01:10 PM)

So that means I set it so that a members can only add missing dates to magazine records, but Team Members can edit existing dates

@  Phillyman : (24 August 2016 - 01:09 PM)

Oh sweet baby jebus! Is that field permissions.....I think it is....I can finally set permissions of editable fields....and it looks like I can allow member groups to only be able to add info to blank fields or the ability to edit existing data

@  Phillyman : (24 August 2016 - 01:01 PM)

Oh and some people may like this, it looks like I can disable fields by category. So if we want to not show Issue numbers in certain area's......we dont have to

@  Phillyman : (24 August 2016 - 01:01 PM)

If I am not mistaken, the new version lets you create a custom field ONCE and then use it across MULTIPLE databases. Which is a huge time saver. Why do I need to create a Magazine Title and a Strategy Guide Title and a Video Game Title????

@  Phillyman : (24 August 2016 - 12:59 PM)

oh boy, I am finally sitting down with the new version of this software, and it does some pretty cool things

@  MathUser2929 : (24 August 2016 - 12:50 PM)

Electronic Gaming Monthly 1996

@  Depressor : (24 August 2016 - 11:55 AM)

I've taken away a pack of magazines today... I's necessary to look for time for scanning)

@  Depressor : (24 August 2016 - 11:55 AM)

Or maybe i just a super editor))))

@  Depressor : (24 August 2016 - 11:52 AM)

i think it's a link...

@  kitsunebi77 : (23 August 2016 - 11:16 PM)

Yeah, who knows. Whatever happened, it was definitely a case of "look, but don't touch," I guess:
Downloads: 85

@  Phillyman : (23 August 2016 - 09:24 PM)

or someone was on that page, died and their head landed on the F5 button for a few hours

@  Phillyman : (23 August 2016 - 09:24 PM)

hmmm maybe someone shared the link out on another site and it got a bunch of traffic?

@  kitsunebi77 : (23 August 2016 - 08:53 PM)

Has anybody noticed the top-viewed files in the statistics section? How the heck did a random issue of EGM and SuperPlay get over 3x the views of the most popular mag on the site? Or maybe I'm wrong and Super Play #15 really IS the best gaming mag ever made LOL:
Super Play Issue 15: 13,391 Views
EGM Issue 136: 12,551 Views
Nintendo Power Issue 001: 3,793 Views

@  Areala : (23 August 2016 - 08:23 PM)

That's Florida for you.

@  RetroDefense : (23 August 2016 - 05:38 PM)

Cue rimshot.

@  Phillyman : (23 August 2016 - 04:47 PM)

however America's wang is in the news every other weekend

@  Areala : (23 August 2016 - 04:41 PM)

Everyone forgets America's hat from time to time, Philly. No worries. ;)

@  Depressor : (23 August 2016 - 04:11 PM)

its a very small country)))

@  Phillyman : (23 August 2016 - 02:04 PM)

how did I forget Canada

@  Phillyman : (23 August 2016 - 12:48 PM)

If any Russian magazines are missing from the Gallery, Magazine Database or Publication DB....let me know and I will work on getting them added

@  Depressor : (23 August 2016 - 11:44 AM)

Thx for this. Will add some RU covers later.

@  Phillyman : (23 August 2016 - 10:17 AM)

The International gallery category has been removed, I have moved everything inside of it, to the appropriate country category

@  kitsunebi77 : (23 August 2016 - 12:07 AM)

Or it could be a file we removed on purpose. We used to have less strict quality standards for our scans, so a lot of content was removed when we changed those standards. But yeah, let one of the Red Font Triumvirate know and they can probably sort it out. :)

@  RetroDefense : (22 August 2016 - 11:52 PM)

That may qualify, @Samhain. There are several scans that haven't been restored since a server crash or hosting problem years ago (before my time here.) Phillyman, E-Day or Areala may be able to verify it.

@  Samhain : (22 August 2016 - 11:31 PM)

Okay, because I've got a bunch from a torrent, years ago. It's a Retromag file, I found when going through old hard drives. Geez, it has to be about 8 years old at least. It's actually what brought me here in the first place.

@  kitsunebi77 : (22 August 2016 - 08:53 PM)

Read it, enjoy it, give it to your friends or random strangers if you like. But we can't host it here. Only mags we've scanned ourselves are hosted here.

@  Samhain : (22 August 2016 - 07:59 PM)

What if you find a scan, that we don't have here, but don't know who the owner is?

@  Phillyman : (22 August 2016 - 09:17 AM)

I gave Team Members and Database Moderators the ability to change ownership of files in the Download Section. This way if anyone notices that Retromags uploaded their scan, they can flip the ownership to themselves.....Since quite a bit that is under me, was scanned by past Team Members

@  kitsunebi77 : (21 August 2016 - 09:56 PM)

Nevermind - I just noticed I can do it myself!

@  kitsunebi77 : (21 August 2016 - 09:46 PM)

Philly, could you change the credit on that PC Gamer again?
